| July 2005 - As of July 1, 2005 12 volunteers have dedicated at least three nights a month to stay at the firehouse. We are staffing 2 volunteers Monday through Thursday from 1800 (6pm) till 0600(6am). This enables a quicker response to our citizens request for assistance and our emergency response. This is a trial program, and if this seems to be a benefit there is a possibility of making this a 7 day a week program. Thanks to all the guys that are giving up time for this program. |

| August 2005 - On August 1, 2005 Lewisburg Fire Department and the Greenbrier County Emergency Ambulance Service entered into an Automatic Mutual Aid contract for Rapid Response. What this means is that if you call for an ambulance in the Lewisburg Fire District, you may also get a fire truck. The fire department is dispatched on life threatening emergencies with the ambulance. If the fire department has personnel available they will respond, which in some cases can arrive and be on scene with the patient for minutes prior to the ambulance arriving. The reason for this is the ambulance continuously gets busier every day. We have some Firefighters that are crossed trained as Paramedics, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), First Responders, and all the Firefighters are CPR/1st Aid certified. The sooner trained personnel can get on scene the better for the patient it is. |

This truck will be placed in service at Station 1, and will replace the 1976 American LaFrance ladder truck which is currently being used. This truck we feel will be a great addition to our fleet.
